Meet the Cast
Jesse Polito – Wulfric
Jesse Polito was born in Fiji, raised in Central America (Panama) and is now settled in Victoria, B.C. The 25-year-old loves to perform and seeks out many platforms to express his musical and artistic creativity. He’s a self-employed photographer who passionately highlights theatre companies and clubs throughout Vancouver Island. Most of his time is occupied by actively supporting individuals with drug addiction and mental illness as an employee of the Victoria Cool Aid Society. He aspires to travel, collecting and sharing stories, lessons, and experiences.
Paige Swain – Desiree
Paige is super excited to be in her first theatre al Dente show besides the spring break camp Newsies. Paige has been in productions such as Young Frankenstein, Into the woods, The Wizard of Oz, Oliver and Annie. Paige can’t wait to perform this show and hopes that you enjoy it.
Julie Gray – Evelyn
Julie is incredibly grateful to be in the company of such a musically talented cast. She learns something every time she has the privilege of hearing one of them sing. Julie loves to play the fool and sink her teeth into character actor roles. She was most recently seen early in 2019 on the Theatre Inconnu stage in “The Last Days of Judas Iscariot” where she played six roles, notably the Devil and Mother Teresa. Julie would like to recognize all the work that goes on behind the scenes to stage a production like this. You are all the unsung heroes! A very special shout out to the audience for being part of this experience with us!
Sadie Karlsson – Deirdre
Sadie is thrilled to be joining Theatre Al Dente in her eleventh show! Sadie attends Belmont Secondary school where she is heavily involved in their music program; she is trained in styles of jazz and is a multi-instrumentalist. She has been involved in theatre for the past four years, having played roles such as the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz, Medda Larkin in Newsies and Violet Beauregarde in Willy Wonka, among others. She has thoroughly enjoyed being part of Romeo and Juliet and Kevin and hopes you enjoy the show!
Carol Pudwell – Gwen
Carol has been engaged in the Victoria music scene for over 20 years. Her love of all genres has led her to sing and play various instruments with many bands and vocal groups across Canada. Carol has been studying voice with Maureen Branch since 2007 and has just completed her 29th opera with the Pacific Opera Victoria chorus. She recently made her debut with the Vancouver Island Performers Guild as Rosa in The Sleepwalker. When she’s not singing or working her day job, Carol takes the stage as ‘Bobby Sox’, a Drag “Quing” who alternates between a male and female persona. This is Carol’s debut performance with Theatre al Dente and is extremely excited and proud to be a part of this production.
Kelly Vanderswan – Morgan
Kelly is absolutely chuffed to return to Theatre Al Dente’s summer productions! If she looks familiar, you may have seen her in one of the 12 productions (yes, 12) she was part of last year, including last year’s production of “Phantom of the Light Opera” in the pivotal role of MC Bea Esser. Other roles include Jesus Christ Superstar (Pharisee, Company P), A Chorus of Disapproval (Hannah, Langham Court Theatre), or one of the many, MANY cabarets she took part in with Starry Starry Skies Productions and workingclasstheatre. If none of those ring a bell, she’s got a lot more she can throw at you but she’s running out of room. We hope you enjoy the show – Viva la Shakespeare!
Colin Moon – Lenny
Colin’s very excited to be playing Lenny in Romeo and Juliet and Kevin! You may recognize Colin from having played Prince Chuck in Theatre Al Dente’s Phantom of the Light Opera last summer or from his various productions with Vancouver Island Shakespeare Arts. When not acting, Colin can be found having constant existential crises about the concept of historicism at the University of Victoria.
